THE Abbey Hotel will reopen its outdoor spaces from Monday, April 12 brewery Joseph Holt has announced.

The company announced which of its pubs will reopen outside spaces once permitted under the lockdown exit roadmap.

Joseph Holt has two pubs in the town, The Abbey in Dentons Green and The Red Lion in Sutton.

It has been confirmed The Abbey is among the venues which will reopen on Monday, April 12, should the scheduled easing of restrictions take place.

According to the Joseph Holt website, the pub will be open from midday to 10pm every day for drinks only.

There will be table service only, with 'rule of six' guidelines in place.

Meanwhile, The Red Lion is not listed as one of the venues set for a reopening on April 12, with a full relaunch of hospitality set to be permitted from May 17.

The Star reported in September 2019 when the Hard Lane pub reopened after a £800,000 renovation, which included an expanded beer garden.

A post on The Abbey's Facebook page said: "We cannot wait to welcome you back into the pub you know and love so much. We are very excited to be opening our Beer Garden on 12th April under the Government roadmap.

"There are just a few things you need to be aware of, so you know what to expect when you visit the pub.

"We will not be taking bookings for the time being. We want our pubs to be available to as many people as possible and although space will be limited in our beer garden we will try to accommodate as many customers as possible, but unfortunately this cannot be guaranteed.

We will be operating under the 'Rule of Six' guidelines and we kindly ask everyone to understand and observe this restriction. That means no more than six people can be seated at any one table.

"It is important you remain seated during your visit and face coverings will be mandatory whilst entering and exiting the pub, using the toilets and paying for drinks at the pay station."

It added: "We will be operating with table service only until further notice. We kindly ask you not to approach the bar but instead make your way to an available table in our beer garden where we will take your order.

"We will be operating a mandatory Test & Trace policy and it is a requirement that all customers complete this upon entering our pub.

"Our opening and closing times are subject to change at pretty short notice because we all know the Great British weather can be unpredictable. Please check our pub website or our Facebook page for daily information concerning opening and service times depending on weather and capacity.

"We want to make sure you enjoy the pub when you visit, and we know that these circumstances are very strange. We are keeping our fingers tightly crossed for 5 weeks of ‘cracking-the-flags’ weather. We really have missed you and we are very excited to see you but please be kind, courteous and mindful to our staff and other customers so that everyone can have a good time and socialise safely.

"Team Abbey".
